Identification boundary

The common name “inch plant” covers multiple Tradescantia species and cultivars. Confirm the label or diagnostic features before using species-specific range or invasiveness claims.

Ecological relationships

Node-rooting stems help the plant spread and recover after disturbance. That same trait can make some Tradescantia species invasive in frost-free climates, so contain trimmings and never discard them outdoors.

Care principle

To understand the care of a plant, understand its native climate and environment.
